Position Summary
At a glance, new hires at Parker Hannifin will receive:
- Starting pay is up to $31.80/hour depending on experience plus $2.00/hour shift differential
- $5,000 sign on bonus
- Sunday night through Friday morning - 10:30PM - 7:00AM
- Training on 1st shift (7:00AM-3:30PM) and then transition to 3rd shift
At our Wadsworth location, we specialize in serving the industrial and oil and gas spanets, producing high-quality rotary and rodless pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. Our dedicated machining team manufactures these components using a variety of materials, including ductile iron, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialized alloy materials for specific applications.
We pride ourselves on our high mix, low volume product offerings, which are characterized by extensive customization options. This unique approach leads to routine program edits, ensuring that we meet our clients specific needs.
All operations are conducted in a fully climate-controlled facility that operates on two shifts, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
Safely operate, setup and produce quality components using various types of CNC mills and lathes and/or manual machines including, but not limited to,
- Operate and setup one or more CNC machines simultaneously;
- Select, replace, and setup tooling;
- Edit CNC programs (G-code or conversational);
- Troubleshoot and correct machining issues;
- Partner with maintenance to repair machines including calibration;
- Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software preferred.
- Ability to design and fabricate tooling/fixturing is preferred; and
- Support rotation of machine assignments to foster effective cross-training.
- Cross training on designated equipment utilizing the skills matrix for both setup and operation of CNC equipment.
- Support training of all machinists.
- Create and maintain setup sheets with process engineering.
- Use the DNC to effectively load/save CNC programs.
- Analyze tooling wear to aid in improving operational performance.
- Support development of processes involving work holding, cutting tools, programming, and peripheral equipment that is introduced into the department.
- Generating or modify a program utilizing macros and variables.
- Continuously observe machines, fixtures, peripheral equipment, gauging, materials, parts, etc., for obvious defects and/or malfunctions.
- Perform machine specific tooling offsets of CNC machines.
- Replace and adjust existing tooling in a tool rest/tool setter to maintain production within specifications.
- Continuously monitor measured part dimensions against engineering print using standard inspection gauges including use of CMM, if discrepant utilize “Stop & Fix” procedures to correct immediately.
- Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning machines to maintain 5S+Safety approach. This includes fixtures, tooling, gauging, and peripheral equipment.
- Submit waste reductions/cost avoidances using the quality concern report process.
- Follow all standard work, process sheets and work instructions.
- Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- CNC coursework completed through Wayne County Career Center or equivalent experience.
- Ability to create and edit CNC programs for both G-code and/or conversational.
- 7+ years of machining experience including but not limited to programming, tooling, gauging and machining methods.
- Proficient understanding of computers and related software (Office365 products, MSS, etc).
- Proficient understanding of blueprint reading.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities.
- Overhead Crane certified preferred, not required. Will train onsite.
- Fork truck certified preferred, not required.
